MAYAH and Coding Technologies present professional DRM audio encoder at IBC Hallbergmoos, Munich-Airport / Nuremberg, 11.09.2001 - Coding Technologies and MAYAH, have decided for a joint venture to build a DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale) Audio Encoder which will encode AAC+SBR in realtime and offer professional audio and network hardware interfaces. This device, which will make it's debut at the IBC in Amsterdam, intensifies the development partnership between Mayah and Coding Technologies which already gave birth to the MAYAH AudioWebServer CENTAURI 4001 earlier this year. Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) is an international consortium of organizations from across the broadcast industry, who have come together to develop a standard for digital broadcasting in the AM bands below 30 MHz, traditionally the short, medium and long wave bands. DRM's aim is to bring affordable, digital quality sound and services to the world radio market. Coding Technologies has been an active contributor to the standardization effort from early on. The audio encoding capabilities of the co-branded DRM Encoder 3010 are demonstrated during IBC in Amsterdam. Besides the encoding algorithm AAC+SBR,DRM Encoder 3010 offers professional analog and digital audio inputs as well as Ethernet, X.21 and ISDN interfaces for communication with other DRM devices or for distribution. The unique hardware platform of DRM Encoder 3010 allows for an efficient extension of capabilities to e.g. support additional speech coding formats standardized by DRM. The list of features includes:
Highest-quality, full featured AAC+SBR encoding according to the current
DRM standard More information about DRM Encoder 3010 will become available under www.mayah.com and www.codingtechnologies.com. Photos of DRM Encoder products are available in the download-area of www.mayah.com or via info@mayah.com. Further contacts via phone +49 811 5517-0. AAC + SBR is an audio compression scheme that combines Coding Technologies' revolutionary SBR (Spectral Band Replication) technology with MPEG AAC (Advanced Audio Coding. The combination of AAC and SBR builds today's most efficient audio codec. Due to its high efficiency, AAC+SBR is ideal for digital radio systems. Coding Technologies is focusing on developing and implementing unique audio compression technologies for the broadcasting, Internet and telecommunication markets. The company offers its audio solutions to system designers, chip/device manufacturers and content providers. Coding Technologies, a privately held company having offices in Stockholm, Sweden, and Nuremberg, Germany, combines the exceptional skills of a Swedish company specialized in audio compression technologies and a spin-off from the renowned Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits. With its own R&D for high quality communications, in particular audio as well as a world wide distribution network for the resulting professional hard- and software products, a continuous growth has been reached. Today, MAYAH is recognized to be technology leader with its CENTAURI Audio Gateway Codec for conventional leased and dial-up line as well as IP network transmissions.
