audio compression technologies for mobile, digital broadcasting and
the Internet, announced today an agreement with Imagine Technology to
be a premier provider of MPEG-4 aacPlus implementations for Texas Instruments
DSP platforms. "Leveraging Coding Technologies proven source code and
experience in audio coding, Imagine is creating and licensing validated
aacPlus implementations for both fixed and floating-point TI DSPs. Imagine
is talking to customers immediately with first deliveries scheduled
for Q2 and Q3 2003. "Now that aacPlus is standardized as MPEG-4 High-efficiency
AAC, the demand for TI implementations is great," said Martin Dietz,
CEO of Coding Technologies. "Imagine is one of the top software suppliers
for TI and we are very happy that they are now providing aacPlus." "We

MPEG-4 aacPlus is the combination of MPEG AAC and Coding Technologies' SBR
(Spectral Band Replication) technology. SBR is a unique bandwidth extension
technique, which enables audio codecs to deliver the same quality at
half the bit rate. SBR is a backward and forward compatible method to
enhance the efficiency of any audio codec. As a result, aacPlus delivers
streaming and downloadable 5.1 multichannel audio at 128 Kbps, CD-quality
stereo at 48 Kbps, excellent quality stereo at 32 Kbps, and excellent
quality for mixed content down to 16 Kbps mono and below. This level
of efficiency fundamentally enables new applications in the markets
of mobile and digital broadcast.
